Speech Seasoned With Salt

Colossians 4:6-Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
Throughout the Bible, salt is used as a symbol for something which purifies. An example of this is seen in the Old Testament (Leviticus 2:13; Ezekiel 16:4). Paul’s words here remind us that our words need to be geared towards bringing healing and kindness (grace). In our often harsh and critical world, a healing word can go a long way to encouraging others.
Ephesians 4:29-Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
Do our words help or hurt?
When we are faced with an opportunity today to show grace in our words and actions, let’s show kindness.
Lord Jesus, help us to be graceful in our speech every day. We want to have Your heart of kindness. Bless us to share Your love with those around us. May we be a blessing to hurting souls today. In Your Name, Amen.
