The More They Prospered The More They Sinned

(More Bible Studies Available @ www.marktabata.com)

Hosea 4:7 (Amplified)-The more they increased and multiplied [in prosperity and power], the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame.

God declared that the more His people succeeded and prospered, the more that they sinned against Him. It is a sad fact of humanity that people often turn against God when things are going well in their lives. They lose sight of the Giver of every good and perfect gift as they enjoy the good and perfect gifts He graciously gives (James 1:17). How often do we allow the glamor and brightness of the world to keep us from seeing the beauty of God? Indeed, God later said through Hosea:

Hosea 13:6-When they had pasture, they were filled; They were filled and their heart was exalted; Therefore they forgot Me.

As we enjoy the blessings of this day, may we gratefully focus on the One Who daily loads us down with benefits (Psalm 68:19). Let’s remember that God Himself is our exceedingly great reward (Genesis 15:1).

Father, we thank You for the blessings of this day, and for every day that we live on Your good Earth. Forgive us for complaining and being ungrateful. We know that we have You to thank for every good thing. We praise You and thank You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
