Matthew 2:11-And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
(Before I get into my daily devotional, please accept my apologies. I have been behind schedule on these messages. I have actually been working nearly round the clock on my monthly magazine as I believe it is going to be covering a very important and needed topic: The Bible And UFO Disclosure. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this subject. Thank you for your patience with me and for your prayers on my behalf as I try to navigate scheduling issues).
When the wise men brought their gifts to young Jesus, included among them was frankincense. There are many reasons, undoubtedly, for all of the gifts which they brought. However, I want to share something with you about frankincense which I have just recently learned.
Frankincense is extremely valuable as a medicine. Ancient documents from Israel, Egypt, Greece, and Persia all document that it is extremely valuable in treating several health conditions, including wounds and inflammation, digestive problems, respiratory illnesses, and skin conditions. What is especially fascinating is learning how it is harvested. Coming from deep inside Boswellia trees, frankincense must be harvested by a person deeply slashing cuts into the bark. The tree then releases its resin (frankincense) as a healing treatment for the tree. Amazingly, it is also a medicinal agent for lots of other conditions!
With that in one, think of what the Prophet Isaiah declared hundreds of years before Jesus Christ was brought into the world:
Isaiah 53:5-But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Through the violent attacks that the Savior willingly and lovingly endured for each of us, we may find healing for all of our wounds.
Thank You Lord Jesus for Your amazing grace. Amen.
