It is written:
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)
My brief study over the last several weeks of the role of women’s ministry in the New Testament church has been time-consuming, shocking, heart-wrenching, and incredibly beneficial for me personally. While I doubt my studies and articles on these topics will have much impact upon others, they have definitely affected me personally.
The pages of the Word of God teach us time after time that the Lord’s mission for women in the church goes far beyond her submissive role as faithful wife and mother. I say that, not to in any way degrade the needed importance of such roles; but to emphasize yet again that the Lord’s will for the work of women in the the church often exceeds our own limited expectations.
The Restoration Movement is one of the most biblical pleas throughout time (cf. 2 Kings 22; Jeremiah 6:16; Luke 8:11-15; 2 Timothy 1:13). Churches of Christ have historically been very bold in encouraging people to return to the Word of God, even when doing so requires us to set aside traditions, creeds, and man-made doctrines and practices. My hope and prayer is that, as members of the restored churches of Christ in America, we will continue to carefully study these important matters and make change and correction where needed.
Change….not to be like the culture surrounding us….
But to be more like what God calls us to be in His Word.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
