Great Is Thy Faithfulness

By: Mark Tabata (Evangelist)

Throughout my life, I have often found great comfort in the words of the Prophet Jeremiah.

Having been sent by God to preach His Word to the rebellious people of Judah, the Weeping Prophet warned of coming judgment against the sin-hardened masses.

Sadly, they would not repent: and the judgment from God came in three powerful attacks.

King Nebuchadnezzar of the dreaded Babylonian Empire launched campaigns against Jerusalem in 606, 597, and 586 B.C.

In the last attack, the battle-axe of Jehovah destroyed the city of Jerusalem, having taken most of its’ inhabitants captive back to his country.

Wandering around the broken and desolate city of Jerusalem, Jeremiah cries out in sorrow. The Book of Lamentations is written from that vantage point. Being a funeral dirge, the Book characterizes and describes the sinfulness of the people and the sorrow of their punishment on account of their wickedness.

The Book provokes sorrow when read, and helps us to see the painful consequences that eventually befall the unrepentant.

It is in the midst of his sorrow that Jeremiah pens these powerful words:

Lamentations 3:22-24- 22    Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23    They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24    “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”

Even in the midst of his sorrow and pain, Jeremiah was able to see that each new day revealed the tender mercies and unfailing love of Jehovah. In a moment of triumph, the Prophet declares: “GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS!!!’

I want you to know that no matter what storms in life you are facing, you can rely on the faithfulness of God. He will be your Keeper; He will be your shade at your right hand (Psalm 130).

The Lord knows your need, and He assures you that the darkness of this life cannot be so deep that He will not see you and provide for you (Psalm 139).

Are you suffering from sin? Then repent, knowing that if God marked iniquities, none could stand and that with Him there is forgiveness (Psalm 40).

It is time to stop doing things your way. It is time to stop living for yourself. Beloved, it is time to live for Him Who died for you and rose again (2 Corinthians 5:15).

Throughout my life, time after time, I have witnessed the faithfulness of God. He will be faithful in providing you a way of escape in temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13), in providing whatever you need spiritually (1 Corinthians 1:7-9; cf. 2 Timothy 3:16-17), in keeping His promises (2 Corinthians 1:18), in making you spiritually complete in body, soul, and spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24), in establishing you and guarding you from the evil one and all of his forces (2 Thessalonians 3:3), and in forgiving His people of all sin (1 John 1:9).

Want proof?

Then look to the Son of God. My friends, do you know of the grace of The Lord Jesus Christ?

He was rich beyond comparison, dwelling in Heaven as the Son in the glorious Godhead, yet became the poorest of the poor by coming to this world and going to the Cross.

It is through His poverty that He chose that we can become rich through Him (2 Corinthians 8:9). The Lord Jesus died for you, and paid for your sins.

Great is His faithfulness!!

He was buried in a borrowed tomb, the tomb of a rich man. All the hopes of the world were buried with Him.

How could the Son of God be killed?

How could He Who had raised the dead now be dead?

How could God the Father allow such to happen?!

Great is His faithfulness!!

Jesus arose on the third Day, as testified by over five hundred witnesses (1 Corinthians 15:1-8).

The power of the grave was broken by the power of grace. His love conquers all bonds!!

Great is Your faithfulness!!

He calls you to turn to Him.

As a believer, repent of your sins and be baptized by the authority of Christ to have your sins forgiven, and He will give you the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

Why not turn to Him today?

If you are a child of God who has wandered from The Lord, please turn back today. Repent and pray to The Lord, confessing your sins to Him. He says that He will be faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we turn to Him (1 John 1:9).

Why not turn back to Him, this very moment?

Great is the faithfulness of God my friends. Please turn to Him today.

Psalm 36:5-5    Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

The grace of The Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
