Genesis 4:17-And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch.
When I was being raised in West Virginia, it was commonplace in school to be told that ancient man was extremely primitive. I still remember learning about how our ancestors were actually “cavemen,” and that they were not as “evolved” as modern humanity. That never really made sense to me, as the Bible describes Adam and Eve as being very intelligent.
Genesis 2:19-20-Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
This certainly does not sound like a primitive being!
Studies in archaeology confirm that ancient man was actually very advanced in regards to knowledge and technology. Some of this science may have come from angels who rebelled against God (often referred to as the Watchers).
Recent archaeological findings beneath the Giza Pyramids in Egypt have sparked significant interest, with researchers now expressing high confidence in the existence of a vast underground city.[ 20] This discovery prompts intriguing questions for Christians familiar with Genesis 6 and the Book of Enoch. Could this subterranean complex relate to the Nephilim or pre-Flood civilizations? Let’s examine the evidence, integrate further details from recent reports, and consider its implications from a biblical worldview. The Discovery: Evidence Beneath Giza A team of scientists, including Italian researchers, utilized high-frequency electromagnetic waves, specifically Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), to investigate beneath the Giza Plateau, focusing on the Khafre Pyramid.[ 21] Their findings suggest a network of wells, chambers, and structures extending over 4,000 feet below the surface. The team, which presented their results at a press conference in Italy, claims an 85% or greater confidence level that these features indicate a deliberately constructed “vast city,” potentially reshaping our understanding of Egyptian history. Additional details from contemporary sources, such as the Daily Mail (March 25, 2025) and Euronews (March 22, 2025), elaborate on the findings.[ 22] Led by Professor Corrado Malanga of the University of Pisa and Filippo Biondi of the University of Strathclyde, the researchers identified vertical shafts, some 33 to 39 feet in diameter, descending over 2,100 feet, with deeper structures at 4,000 feet.[ 23] They also detected what they describe as “spiral staircases,” large chambers, and evidence of a water distribution system carved into limestone platforms. Project spokesperson Nicole Ciccolo hinted at a connection to the “Halls of Amenti,” a mythical Egyptian repository of ancient knowledge.[ 24]…For us Christians versed in Genesis 6, this discovery reminds us of the Nephilim, described as offspring of the “sons of God” and human women. The Book of Enoch, a non-canonical text widely studied in some Christian circles, portrays these beings as advanced, imparting forbidden knowledge to humanity before the Flood (Enoch 7-8). Could an underground city of this scale and antiquity be a remnant of their influence? Ancient humanity was far from the primitive life-form so often depicted in Darwinian propaganda.
Can you think of some examples of the advanced knowledge of ancient man?
Lord, thank You for making humanity in Your image. Help us to recognize and honor that blessing. Amen.
